Aim high in the sky

14.04.08 Made the fore­ground clouds softer, not sure if it’s any bet­ter. The orig­i­nal intent was to have clouds with a more solid shape.

I’ve never been good with clouds…

Well, what can I say– it’s another one of my attempts at a back­ground which isn’t turn­ing out too right. It’s obvi­ous from the image above I need a lot more prac­tice! The big chunk in the fore­ground doesn’t really look like a cloud, where’s the shape?

I think I know where the prob­lem lies– I need to work out exactly where the clouds are in rela­tion to another, which is in front? which is at the back? That will deter­mine the light­ing and shadow casted upon it. Right now they all seemed a bit joined and it’s unclear what’s hap­pen­ing. Oh well, I tried. I might con­tinue this another time, or just leave it unfin­ished like my other back­ground (green field).

It’s a really good work! Your draw­ing about clouds is very good but your clouds fright­ens me a lit­tle because of the colour grey! Maybe it will be inter­est­ing to put more white and more nuance about white on your clouds. ;)
